Full-time employee and groomer apprentice, Frankie Silvia is attending the Barkleigh Progroom seminar and trade show in Tacoma this weekend. Friday is exclusively devoted to the Bather – Brusher Certification Course. Owner, Lee Ann Kelly, took this course in 2006 (after 16 years of grooming!) and loved it. "I learned about innovations in this area of the grooming industry and received many useful tips and reminders that help me and my employees every day!" Saturday & Sunday Frankie will participate in a variety of classes covering all aspects of grooming. He is especially excited about several presentations focusing on cat grooming. Although Lee Ann is working this weekend, she is looking forward to a seminar in Portland in June. Internationally competitive groomers, Sue Vecco & Jay Scruggs, will be presenting their Super Styling Sessions seminar. "Seminars are vitally important for emotional and social support & networking as well as continuing education for our careers" Lee Ann said.

Five are certified in pet CPR
Lee Ann Kelly, owner of City Dogs Grooming, and her colleagues Brenda Hazelwood, Kathy Vetter, Lyn Olcott and Maria Hildenbrand have received Red Cross certification in pet CPR and first aid.
The course focused on rescue breathing techniques and basic first aid such as bandaging, restraining and transporting dogs in crisis.
"We always hope we will never have to use anything like this, but it's important to know," said Kelly. "I consider it a vital part of staff training and handy for any pet owner." The classes were taken through the local Red Cross. City Dogs accepts all dog breeds and is a member of the National Dog Groomers Association and the Pacific NW Professional Groomers Association.
